Worker Killed in Columbus Landfill Accident
In August, a man was killed in Columbus when he was run over by a tractor-trailer at the South Side landfill.
According to the Columbus Dispatch, the accident occurred at the Scott’s C&D Landfill, near the 1400 block of Harmon Avenue. The man was struck at around 3 p.m. and was transported to the OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, where he later died due to the injuries he sustained.
An initial investigation revealed that the man was trying to direct the driver of the truck to drop a load off at the landfill when the accident occurred. He had been working for Scott’s for about six months. The accident remains under investigation, as officials said it could take several months to complete.
The victim’s age and name was not released in the immediate aftermath of the accident.

Unfortunately, many family members of workplace accident victims are not aware of certain Ohio workers’ compensation death benefits in the aftermath of an incident. This is because many people assume that benefits apply only to people who are injured on the job, not those who die.
If your loved one dies, while no amount of money will bring him or her back following a workplace accident, workers compensation death benefits or damages obtained through a wrongful death lawsuit may help you recover financially by making up for his or her lost income.
