Columbus Workers Comp Attorneys Look at Target Complaint

Building cleaners working for Target Corp. stores have filed a complaint to the US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) about hazardous working conditions. The workers allege that they have not been properly trained to handle the chemicals they are required to work with and that management locks them inside the retail store to do overnight cleaning without proper ventilation. The Target maintenance crew works for a contractor outsourced by Target, but Target is named as the defendant in the lawsuit.

“What would happen if a fire were to break out in one of those stores?” one of the workers asked in the complaint.

Target said in a statement that OSHA has not contacted them yet. OSHA will likely send investigators out in the near future to conduct a thorough inspection.

“We take allegations of inappropriate working conditions seriously and complete a thorough external audit of every housekeeping vendor on an annual basis,” Target said in a released statement.
