Big 3 Precision Products Inc. Cited By OSHA for Electrocution Hazards
Big 3 Precision Products Inc., a company that manufactures industrial machine products, was recently cited for five safety violations after being investigated by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
OSHA cited the company for knowingly allowing employees to stand or walk under forklifts, which can put workers at risk for a struck-by injury. They had already been cited for failure to follow forklift safety standards during a previous investigation in April 2013.
Four other citations involved lack of machine guarding on portable grinders, which can create amputation and laceration hazards for workers. The company also received several extension cord violations, including failing to inspect cords, use of damaged cords and not using cords with grounding conductors where necessary.
Proposed penalties for the violations amount to $63,000. Big 3 Precision Products Inc. has 15 business days from the date of citation to comply or contest the charges.
