According to WTAP-TV, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating an industrial accident in Beverly that killed one man and injured another.
The news station reports that the agency was contacted several hours after a belt line collapsed in Washington County involving workers from Adamo Demolition Co. The accident killed the president of Adamo Group and injured an employee on December 3.
“We interview employees, we interview management, we gather documents from the police department and the fire department, and, in this case, agencies like the Coast Guard and the Army Corps of Engineers,” said Deborah Zubaty, OSHA’s Columbus Area Director, according to WTAP.
The agency said that the accident investigation could take up to six months to complete. Early reports indicate that workers were dismantling an old conveyor belt over a waterway when the housing for the belt line fell.
OSHA reported that Adamo has been cited previously for safety violations during inspections.
