Ohio BWC Awards Over $258,000 In Work Place Safety Grants

In pursuit of reducing work related injury and illness, the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) took the preventative measure of awarding more than $258,000 dollars in grant funding to Ohio businesses for improving safety in the work place. The Safety-Intervention Grant Program supports 9 businesses as they establish proper safety protocols to effectively nip work related injury and illness in the bud.

BWC CEO Steve Bueher says that the newly expanded Safety-Intervention Grant Program exists “thanks to Governor Kasich’s support of increased statewide efforts to promote workplace safety and encourage further investment in protecting Ohio’s workers.” The BWC matched 3 dollars for every dollar employer contribution.

The “common sense solution for employers looking to keep their workers safe and reduce workers’ comp costs” provides individual businesses funding ranging from $5,215 to $40,000. Projects include a Copley Township’s $6,745 automated gate to avoid shoulder, neck and back injuries associated with repetitive motion. W&W Dry Cleaners and Laundry Services received $40,000 for a noise and air pollution reducing machine.
