OSHA cited the company for repeat violations of failing to protect their employees from the ingoing nip point of belts, pulleys, chains and sprockets. They were also cited for a fall hazard pertaining to an unguarded platform.

OSHA issued new citations based on 11 serious safety violations, including:

1. Lack of lockout/tagout procedures

2. Exposing workers to struck-by hazards

3. Failing to inspect cranes and hoists regularly

4. Broken crane wires

“San Cast continues to demonstrate a complete disregard for the health and safety of its workers by failing to correct known hazards,” Deborah Zubaty, OSHA’s area director in Columbus, stated. “No one should be risking injury on a job because their employer consistently fails to follow safety practices.”
