Company Faces $90,000 OSHA Fine For Violations At Site Near Cleveland

A chemical plant in Barberton, Ohio is looking a $90,000 fine from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), according to The US Glass Network. PPG industries, a company from Pittsburgh, was issued the fine for the violations in their facility near Cleveland. PPG is denying the validity of the citations and expect to appeal.

“An inspection was initialed September 26 after OSHA received a complaint alleging the use of an unguarded winter machine in the facility Teslin department, which resulted in the citation for the willful violation,” OSHA released in a statement. “A willful violation is one committed intentional knowing or voluntary disregard for the law’s requirements, or with plain indifference to worker safety and health.”

PPG in Barberton produces chemicals and optical products. They currently employ about 140 at this particular site.
