How Did Lapmaster Precision Commit 11 Serious Safety Violations?

Officials from the US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) investigated a Lapmaster Precision Services LLC facility in Dayton, Ohio after receiving complaints about workers exposed to hazards. OSHA cited the facility for 13 safety violations, 11 of which were categorized as “serious.”

Citations included a failure to develop energy control and, failure to implement hazard communication procedures, failure to properly train employees, a lack of guards on belts and grinding machines and a failure to ensure that workers are not exposed to live electrical parts. Proposed fines total $65,500.

“Lapmaster Precision Finishing Services is compromising its workers by failing to evaluate their exposure and to correct hazardous conditions,” said OSHA’s Bill Wilkerson. “Training workers is vital to their long-term safety and health. OSHA is committed to protecting workers.”

These are very serious safety violations that could have resulted in death or catastrophic injury. We hope this fine serves as a wake-up call to Lapmaster. If you or a loved one has been injured on the job, please contact our firm for a free consultation.
