Retail clothing chain Forever 21 is facing federal fines from the US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for repeat safety violations at one of its locations near Boston, according to the Boston Herald.
OSHA officials inspected the store in December and issued citations for management exposing workers to hazards from falling boxes in the stock room that were not properly secured. Other citations related to obstructed emergency exits and blocked isle ways. Two of the citations were repeat violations. Proposed fines total $55,000.
“Improper storage of stock and inadequate exit routes can and do put workers at risk of serious and severe injury,” said OSHA’s Jeffrey Erskine. “Particularly disturbing is that these same hazards were previously found at another Forever 21 store. An employer with multiple locations, such as Forever 21, must ensure that safe and healthful working conditions are maintained in all its workplaces.”
Forever 21 should have double checked all of its locations after the initial citations to ensure that it was in full compliance with all OSHA regulations. Please contact our firm today for a free consultation if you or a loved one has been injured on the job.
