A Cleveland Public Power worker was rushed to the hospital on January 19 after a workplace injury, according to Fox News in Cleveland. The worker—who was not identified—fell off a basket crane just after 3 a.m. near Interstate 90.
According to a spokesman from the Cleveland Police Department, the man was working on a cherry picker when it tipped over. The bottom became unstable and fell over. Paramedics rushed the injured worker to MetroHealth Medical Center. Reports indicate that he suffered a broken wrist and lacerations. The highway was shut down for several hours in the eastbound direction.
The reality is that this worker is lucky to have survived. Basket cranes and cherry pickers are supposed to be staked into the ground when in use. The reason for it tipping is unclear, but Cleveland Public Power can expect an investigation into the accident.
