A factory in Cuyahoga Falls burst into flames on December 16, keeping firefighters from putting the blaze out for hours, according to Ohio.com. Workers safely evacuated as firefighters from Akron, Stow, Tallmadge and Munroe Falls assisted the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Department. Witnesses reported seeing the smoke from miles away.
The fire appears to be an accident, according to Cuyahoga Falls Assistant Fire Chief Fred Jackson. The company, Technicote, manufactures adhesives and is headquartered in Miamisburg, Ohio. The office areas of the facility were not damaged in the blaze, but most of the warehouse and other sections suffered fire damage.
“I’m sure this is going to be a very large loss,” Jackson said. According to Ralph Adkins, Technicote’s director of sales and marketing, the fire started during a routine daily process.
“We are working now to assess the situation but we anticipate that we will not be shipping from the Cuyahoga Falls facility for some period of time,” said Adkins. “We do have contingency plans and we anticipate being able to service the majority of our business out of other facilities.”
