Columbus Workers Compensation Lawyers Furthering a Family Legacy
Helping clients injured at work in Columbus, Ohio, since 1929
The Larrimer family firm has been fighting for Ohio’s injured workers for almost a century.
Richard N. Larrimer founded the firm in 1929 after graduating Ohio State University Law School in 1925, Order of the Coif. Initially, Richard’s practice was one of general litigation. However, he began to focus on workers comp in the late 1920’s at a time of bitter labor unrest in southeastern Ohio’s coal mining region. At that time, John L. Lewis retained Richard to represent nine mineworkers charged with criminal assault and murder arising out of a gun battle during a strike confrontation with Pinkerton agents hired by the mine owners.
Richard’s successful resolutions of those criminal cases led to his long-term relationship with the United Mine Workers in handling their workers compensation claims. Since that time, the firm’s Ohio workers compensation lawyers have been dedicated to representing injured workers before the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and the Industrial Commission.
Over the ensuing decades, our firm has expanded and now includes a statewide workers compensation law practice. Through both direct representation, and in association with regional and local firms, we help injured workers at all levels of their claims.
A Family Law Firm with a History
Over time, we became a family law firm. Richard Larrimer’s nephew, Gavin Larrimer, joined the firm in 1961. Then, Richard’s son, Terrence Larrimer, joined the firm in 1974. Next, Richard’s nephew, Paul Navin, and attorney Craig Aalyson joined as partners soon thereafter.
Richard Larrimer retired from active practice in 1979. Paul Navin and Craig Aalyson retired from the practice in the early 1990’s. All three have since passed away.
Over the last 20 years, a new generation of younger attorneys has joined the firm as partners. Our firm now includes Columbus workers comp attorneys Joseph F. Navin II, John Larrimer, Courtney Larrimer-Klatt, Kevin Larrimer and Darla Kaikis. Gavin Larrimer’s son, Craig E. Larrimer, was also a partner until his untimely death in early 2006.
In addition, associate attorney Thomas Reitz joined the firm in 2004. He focuses on trial litigation and manages cases appealed to the Court of Common Pleas. In 2005, associate attorney Paul R. Goodburn joined the firm to represent on the job injuries before the Ohio Industrial Commission. He primarily appears for our clients in Columbus and Logan, Ohio. Additionally. associate attorney Aaron A. Bucco joined the firm in 2008. He and partner Joseph Navin staff the Zanesville, Newark and Shadyside branch offices.
