Upper Sandusky Facility Fined for Lead Exposure

A Dlubak Glass Co. facility in Upper Sandusky, Ohio has been fined by the US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for willful and repeat safety violations, according to the Norwalk Reflector. Most of the fines relate to exposing employees to lead. OSHA officials inspected the facility in March and cited a total of 15 health violations. Proposed fines total $126,700.

An anonymous complaint to OSHA from workers alleging exposure to lead and a lack of personal protective equipment lead to the inspection. The facility was cited for similar violations in March of 2011 as well.

“Dlubak Glass Co. has a responsibility to protect the health of its workers by ensuring that they operate in a manner that eliminates or minimizes lead hazards, including exposure,” said area OSHA director Kim Nelson.
