There are many great cities in the United States, and Columbus, Ohio, is no exception. From the vibrant culture to the amazing food, the Ohio capital has become one of the top destinations for people across the country. Despite its bustling atmosphere, Columbus, Ohio, has a hidden gem in the heart of its downtown. McFerson Commons Park is an oasis of nature amongst the hustle and bustle of the city. Learn more here.

McFerson Commons Park is a four-acre plot of green space located in the Arena District of downtown Columbus. It lies just south of Nationwide Arena, a major sports and entertainment venue in the city. The park has been open to the public since 2003, founded by Jean McFerson, a prominent local philanthropist, who donated the land in her will. The park is designed to be a part-urban oasis and part-public space. It was designed in an oasis style, featuring huge elm and ash trees, stone pathways, and tranquil ponds overlooked by a grassy knoll. The ponds are home to a variety of aquatic life, such as turtles, fish, and frogs. The park also features a unique playground built to accommodate both able-bodied and special needs children. The park is often used by local residents as a place to relax and escape the bustle of city life. It is especially popular during the summer months when it sees an influx of visitors looking to escape the heat and enjoy the sun beneath the park’s shady trees.
