OSHA Investigates Fatal New York Workplace Accident

The US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is looking into the death of a worker in Maine, according to NewsDay.com. Josh Plante, 44, from Maine, was working was a lineman for Hawkeye LLC in Saco, Maine, descending on a utility pole when he fell nearly 50 feet to his death.

Plante died from his injuries on his way to the hospital, according to Don Rassiger, counsel for Hawkeye LLC. Ted Fitzgerald, OSHA spokesman, said the cause of the accident is undetermined but Hawkeye is cooperating with the investigation. Plante was wearing the required safety harness at the time of the fall. Hawkeye is a contractor that does work for power companies all over the Northeast.

Hawkeye “takes the safety of its workers very seriously,” according to Rassiger. Have you or a loved one been killed or injured on the job?
