OSHA Fines Ohio Facility for Repeat Violations

A Hebco Products Inc. facility in Bucyrus, Ohio, is looking at federal fines for numerous safety violations, according to InsuranceJournal.com. Officials from the US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) cited a total of 14 violations, including two repeat violations. The citations included a lack of guard rails and a lack of procedures to prevent equipment from starting up unintentionally. Proposed fines total $95,700.

Hebco was targeted under OSHA’s Site-Specific Targeting Program, which picks out specific industries with high workplace injury and illness rates. Hebco was randomly selected as a facility operating within the high-risk industry.

Hebco was found to be in violation of similar safety regulations in 2007, hence the repeat violations. The 12 other violations included failure to provide workers with personal protective equipment, failure to conduct annual inspections of energy control and a failure to properly secure heavy weight loads.

There is no excuse for Hebco to be in violation of such serious regulations multiple times. If you have been injured on the job and need to file for workers comp, please call our office at (614) 221-7584 for a free consultation.
