OSHA Fines Ohio Facility after Worker Injury

The US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) cited a facility in Morrow, Ohio for safety violations, according to Cincinnati.com. OSHA inspected the G & J Enterprises facility after a worker suffered a back injury in January.

OSHA cited violations concerning a trench caving in during the installation of a sewer-line. The proposed fines total $49,200.

“Two serious violations include failing to require workers to use head protection as well as to train workers to recognize the hazards involved in excavation work,” OSHA said in a released statement. G & J Enterprises has 15 days to respond to the violations for their Loveland facility. OSHA cited the same company in 2009 and 2011 for trench-protection safety violations.

This is apparently an ongoing problem for this company. It needs to be addressed and corrected immediately before a worker is killed on the job. OSHA is right to fine them a large amount.
