The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) investigated the owner of the Lima-based Freight Lease, Inc. and discovered that he has failed to provide adequate workers’ compensation for his employees for the past four years.
The owner of Freight Lease, Inc. was fully aware of the fact that he was not providing workers’ compensation to his employees and desired to get his company back on track to meet legal standards. According to an interview with the business owner and the BWC’s special investigations department, the former made a series of unsuccessful attempts but never created the necessary payment plan that would give structure to a workers’ compensation policy for his employees.
The Lima Municipal Court found the business owner guilty of a misdemeanor of failure to comply. He must pay $50,000 up front and $2,500 monthly to reinstate his company’s workers’ compensation policy.
