Louisiana Oil Facility Reaches 3 Million Hours with No OSHA Incidents

A CITGO Petroleum facility in Lake Charles, Louisiana has achieved a workplace safety milestone: three million hours operating without a safety incident. The facility has been free from any violations defined by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The oil manufacturing facility received similar accolades in the past—earlier in 2013 the facility celebrated one full year with no OSHA incidents.

“CITGO Petroleum Corporation focuses on safety as one of its core values, and our commitment to safe operation is illustrated through this momentous achievement,” said Tomeu Vadell, Vice President and General Manager of the facility. “This remarkable accomplishment is a grand testament to the dedication of every one of our employees who works tirelessly to maintain the absolute highest safety standards and the CITGO safety systems, operational procedures and training purposes.”

Workers at facilities such as this one have an endless amount of hazards to account for at work every day, making this no small feat. Safety must be the top priority for management and employees, and diligent attention to detail deserves to be recognized. Management at facilities and construction sites across the country should aspire to reach milestones such as this.
