All-Set Roofing and Construction Inc. was hit with a hefty $44,600 fine after the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) performed a thorough inspection of the company’s safety protocols and found them to be severely inadequate.
Inspectors noted a complete lack of even the most basic of protections – guardrails, safety nets and any kind of fall protection. The company also failed to train employees on procedures meant to protect them from falls, the number one cause of construction-related injury and death.
Had the Bowling Green-based company continued to ignore worker safety, it is very possible that an employee could have been hurt or killed. A significant number of worker fatalities occur from falls less than 10 feet in height; in this case, the workers were asked to work on a rooftop with no protection, where falls could absolutely kill.
