Federal Agency Investigating Ohio Construction Accident

Three workers were injured in a workplace accident on December 16 at the Martin Marietta Magnesia Specialties facility, according to TheNews-Messenger.com. The workers, employed by the CCC Group, Inc., a construction company from San Antonio, were working on a concrete structure when it collapsed. All three workers were rushed to a hospital in Toledo, according to Woodville Fire Chief Paul Hineman. The hospital released them later that afternoon with “minor cuts and bruises.”

“They were even asking us if they could go back to work tomorrow,” said Hahnel. Despite the injuries not being serious, a federal agency is now looking into details of the accident. Martin Marietta began an internal investigation as well. The company claims they don’t know how the collapse occurred, but the U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration is determined to find out.

“We don’t know why it fell,” said facility manager Joe Reilly. “We want to get down to it and find out what has happened.”
