Fall Protection Measures

As this video points out, fall protection measures be provided, even at residential sites that may not be as high as commercial construction sites. Falls are one of the most common construction site injuries. According to statistics from the US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), there were 4,690 fatal worker accidents in 2010. This was the second lowest since 1992, the first year the injury census was conducted.

“Every day in America, 13 people go to work and never come home. Every year in America, nearly 4 million people suffer a workplace injury from which some may never recover,” said Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis at the Workers Memorial Day in April. “These are preventable tragedies that disable our workers, devastate our families, and damage our economy. American workers are not looking for a handout or a free lunch. They are looking for a good day’s pay for a hard day’s work. They just want to go to work, provide for their families, and get home in one piece.”
