According to statistics from the US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), there were 4,690 fatal worker accidents in 2010. This was the second lowest since 1992, the first year the injury census was conducted.

Every year in America, nearly 4 million people suffer a workplace injury from which some may never recover,” said Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis at the Workers Memorial Day in April. “These are preventable tragedies that disable our workers, devastate our families, and damage our economy. They just want to go to work, provide for their families, and get home in one piece.”
