A metal scaffolding fell four stories off the side of a building on February 7 near Pensacola Beach, Florida, according to ABC News. The scaffolding was being used by a construction crew that is building a new water tower near the beach on Via de Luna drive.
Severe winds blew the scaffolding off the tower. Fortunately, no one was injured. but the scaffolding crushed at least two cars and backed up traffic for several hours. A power transformer was also destroyed when the scaffolding fell on it.
“I was sitting in the cab of my truck doing my paper work getting ready to leave and they were offloading my truck,” said Dennis Pierce, who was working near the site. The scaffolding landed just a few feet from his truck. “Next thing I know I heard a crash. If you look at it real good, that boom truck where most of that stuff landed, that’s what saved my butt right there. If that other stuff would have been over another two foot, they’d have been cutting me out of that truck.”
