Cleveland Granite and Marble is facing fines from the US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for safety violations, according to ABC News 5. OSHA officials inspected the facility following complaints about the working conditions. Officials cited 21 violations, including a failure to properly train workers and perform crane inspections. Officials also cited Cleveland Granite and Marble for not maintaining a hearing conservation program and failing to implement a respiratory protection program. Proposed fines total $98,000.
“Employers such as Cleveland Granite & Marble have a responsibility to implement health and safety programs that protect workers from known hazards,” says Howard Eberts, Cleveland’s area OSHA director. “Taking proactive measures, such as requiring the use of personal protective equipment and performing equipment inspections, can prevent serious injury in the workplace.”
